Hey there! I have decided to make public an app that I've developed a few months ago (which I've been using myself) useful for recording hitchhiking spots. It can already be downloaded for free for Windows Phone and Android devices.
This week I'll be working in a few changes on the Windows Phone app and for the next steps the idea is to try to start on the Android version and make it on the Google Play store. If you're a developer and have some knowledge of C# (we'll use a platform called Xamarin what will allow us to develop cross-platform apps within Visual Studio) and you're interested in colaborating, get in touch!
iOS developers who might be interested in developing a version of the app for iPhone should also do so, please. The biggest part of the code is already developed and should be reused/shared among our projects. What you would do is basically create a few interfaces customized for the platform you're developing for.
It's a small project and I'm sure that if you already have some experience on developing, it will be pretty easy to do. And if you don't have any experience on it, this is a good opportunity for you to get started. However, nobody will make any profit out of it, we'll be only cooperating with the hitchhiking community around the world (and with ourselves, because we always end up forgetting where exactly we've been hitchhiking in a certain route the last time when we're going to do it again) ;-)
Additionally and obviously, you'll be able to add a new experience to your CV as a volunteer in a mobile apps project.
:)
So, if you're willing to join the team, write me at leoncioleone@gmail.com
Now you can check our apps code and collaborate directly through GitHub. Check out our repos
